Laptop savvy guys help please!!!

Can anyone give me a clue here please.

Shutting acer laptop down last night I accidentally closed the lid before it had finished shutting down and today all I'm getting when I turn the power on is the initial acer brand logo on screen then nothing, just the curser arrow which you can move round as normal but it's a totally blank screen. You normally get the logo then the password bar pops up and you're away, but nothing now, just the logo then blank. Shutting it down last night I clicked power shut down as normal but as I say then closed the lid before it had finished. Any clues as to how I can get it running again?

You don't say which version of OS you are using but assuming Windows try pressing F8 during boot up and the select the option for Last known good configuration

Possible coincidence. My Dell was doing exactly this and the IT manager re-seated the hard drive and it cured the problem.

Ah sorted it, held the power button down for a while then re-started it.

It was going through suspend most likely and you interrupted it.
