Lancia Fulvia Zagato Sport 'S' - HELP

Hi People,

I recently have come into touch with an old Lancia Fulvia Zagato Sport 'S' from the 1970's. Now while I have spent the day cleaning the car and its almost in mint condition - it doesn't start. It has been sat in the garage for the last 25 years so there's no surprise there really.

What I would like to know is can anyone suggest a classic car garage that could help me get it running again before it is sold on. The car is based in Weybridge and currently the car would have to be towed to the garage (the brakes have seized on). Let me know if anyone knows anything that might help me out, or any sensible offers for the car (I've got a rough idea of how much it is worth).

9k Good to £15k excellent if I've got the right one?

Would expect any garage or auto electrician could get that going as it's simple old technology stuff
I'd want tot change all the fluids before I even tried to start it (but am sure you'll have done that)
 
What else do I need to do to get it going? New battery? How do i clean the carb out? Here is a picture of the engine bay:

Well if I were doing based upon oyu saying it's been garaged for 25 years, it I'd:

Drain any old fuel out and put soem fresh in (not sure about if it needs leaded or a treatment?)
Change the oil and filter
coolant change
Pull and clean the plugs
Gap the contact in the distributor (doubt anyhting electronic)
Turn the engine by hand to make sure it turns

If all OK spin it up and then see what happens.

You can change plugs, leads, etc. later

The rest of the mechanics, tyres brakes follow
 
I've always had classics as my toys up until the Zed, with the Lancia we are now talking my language! These aluminium bodied V4 motors were hugely expensive, costing more than an E type Jag and rare in their day. Everything about the Lancia's mechanicals are a little bit special, different and usually requires a special tool!

IMO they are seriously undervalued classics at the moment because they can cost a fortune to restore and their styling was not to everybody’s taste, but is now very distinctive and retro. A good one is a sure fire investment.

If after 25 years standing you are not too confident I would get it on a trailer and professionally re-commissioned. A brake, carb and electrical overhaul and other components would be routine. A number of components like oil or water pumps can seize after 25 years so starting can shear drives etc. so is not advised until inspected.

Well when I turn the key it does nothing (and I mean nothing). I guess a new battery will help matters. How would I turn the engine manually and how do you drain the fuel? Does it have a plug on the bottom of the tank?

I think it might be best to have it looked at by a professional - it will be sale very soon so I am open to offers. It has one owner from new and has 56000 on the clock, fully restored (because of rust) in the 1980s and left in the garage ever since. It has the full service history with it aswell :)
 
so first the battery needs to be checked and then check the starter motor is being energised

Sorry - don't wish to be harsh but are you really reading the replies? If you simply put a new battery on a try and spin the engine you really do run the risk of wrecking it. Oil will be like syrup, petrol totally stale, coolant empty, parts partially or fully seized, etc. It's the most amateur thing you could do on a beautiful car. Please don't try it.

Based upon your responses have it trailered to a specilaist and stick with the cleaning that looks like you've done a great job.
 
I really appreciate everyones help with this and like you said, I will contact a garage tomorrow and see what they say. I hope it wont cost too much to get it going again.... It looked like it had a straight pipe exhaust aswell :)
 
The car is still for sale in the current condition if anyone is interested. Otherwise the car will be going to an auction soon. Let me know... Thanks
