Lack of output from rear subs??

My car has the business hifi with the 10 speaker Carver DSP setup. The sound quality I think is pretty good. However..

This morning I was fiddling, as I am prone to, and realised that the output from the rear subs was pretty weedy compared to the fronts.

So I whipped the amp out and opened it up, all looks fine with no water damage :-D

Then I removed the covers and the subs are actually working with visible cone movement. But their bass output, I would say is 10% of the front ones.

Can someone do me a favour and see if theirs is the same? Putting the fader all the way to the rear makes the bass pretty much non existent, and even one tap towards the front makes a massive difference, and when in the centre position it sounds great but it's annoying me now thinking that I should have even more bass..

Is there a common problem that I've missed?

I've got HiFi 10 speaker setup and agree.
The subs in the rear are working but don't seem to kick out much - certainly not compared with the fronts.
No playing with the fader helps with mine either.

I'm sure I'll get shot down quickly but the subs shouldn't be effected by the fader , yes they are behind you , but the the fader is normally to do with full range , I'd be looking for a sub level control in the dsp or have play with the low end frequencies in the dsp

Where I'd my rifle lol.

My thinking is that the front and read subs are still controlled by the fader, there appears not to be a sub level option in the settings unless I'm missing it..

Cheers for that, at least it's not just me!

I wouldn't mind but the bass from the fronts is fantastic, but if the rears were also pumping out..

I think its pretty much how they're set up with more bass from the fronts, try the jazz club setting in the dsp menu and set the bass on the tone controls... every thread I've read on here re the professional hifi say the same about the lack of bass from the subs

Can't understand why the fronts produce so much bass, when the rears are ideally setup in their enclosures to do the job, is there a hidden menu on the hu? I already have the bass wound up in the tone controls.

Hmm..

From a post on bimmerforums http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?1384884-2003-Z4-3-0i-Subwoofer-Question

I'm off out to test this..

Ok,

So just popped the rear NS sub grille off and put a goodles loud tune on (Beck - Morning (cracking bass test tune))

So with the fader on full rear, the output from the sub was miniscule, confirmed with a finger on the dome. Sliding the fader one notch to the front and the sub comes alive, remaining that way on every setting of the fader right to the front..

Weird setup but at least they are working!

No nav on mine so can't access those settings.

Not too bothered though as the system sounds great, was just worried that the subs weren't working.

Mine is the same Mike, no Nav , and I always have the DSP on jazz club as it is bias towards more bass. I went out and did the check like you asked and mine is the same as yours, with little output from the sub, but I reckon there is more out in the jazz club mode . To be honest I do know of one track , that I can't remember right now ( it's my age ) that I alway skip because the base in jazz mode is too much . Anyway I think with what you have said and what I found, yours is working as mine is .
