A new island hopping version of a Mull of Kintyre weekend.

Taking the shorter on demand ferries, starting at Ayr and then a short crossing via Dunoon onto the Isle of Bute before hopping across the Kintyre peninsula and then down to the Mull of Kintyre.

Staying on the west coast not far from Cambeltown for the saturday night.

Sunday sees us hopping across to Arran for a drive round, coming back and then winding our way up Loch Fyne and back via Dunoon to Ayr.

Limited to a maximum of 8 cars.

Hotels being the key restriction.

Put myself and Lynn down for this one please, obviously nearly a year away but I'm sure there will be plenty of takers if something crops up to prevent us attending.

Hi Dan, I’ve allocated number 4 of the Premier Inn I’ve reserved in Ayr…do you want me to reserve you and maybe others a room in Ayr for the Sunday night?

I've reserved a place at the Argyll Hotel (I did say I hadn't...ignore that)

I’ve reserved a Premier Inn in Ayr on the Friday night..pls confirm you want that ..

You’ll need to find a hotel near Campbeltown on the Saturday night..ideally near Andy and I.

Do you want a room back in Ayr for the Sunday night ?

@B21, are we down for one of the rooms at the Argyll hotel? We don't require rooms in Ayr as we are only 15 minutes or so from the greenock ferry to Dunoon.

AFAIK at the moment on this trip I've managed to secure all the bookings without deposits so no charge..yet..

I don't what to put a damper on things. But there are no on demand ferries From Greenock . If you want to go to Bute you will have to go from Wemyss Bay to Rothesay or get the ferry from Greenock to Dunoon and drive to Colintraive taking the A851 then B836 then the A886.and then the ferry to Bute. You could modify your root and go from Ardrossan to Arran and then go from Lochranza to the Mull. Please be aware that in October it can be quite windy on the Clyde at that time of the year. So I would have a plan B ready.
The drive from Campbeltown up Lock Fyne to Dunoon is about 150 mile's and it not a fast road you might meet one or two Log waggons so beware.

Hi there..

Thanks for the heads-up..we've done this trip (crossing the various islands) quite a few times over the years, so realise that adding ferries and weather compounds the issues..

https://www.western-ferries.co.uk/current-timetable

The route is illustrative rather then definitive. Its a simple Google version just to give potential members a broad illustration, so for this one, it does intend to use a few ferries rather than minimise them.

We publish the definitive route to those attending about a week or so before we start taking into account issues at the time.
