Kwik fit

Another one with a positive Kwik-Fit experience. Didn't post at the time as couldn't face the ridicule :D
I wouldn't normally have entertained going there, purely on hearsay which I guess is wrong.

However they had a deal on-line that beat all the local guys and Black Circle. When I went in they managed to beat it again by about £50 IIRC. I think they were creative with some of the 'extras'

Booked it in for a couple of days later. Dropped the car off and went for a walk
When I got back they'd not quite finished, the fitter saw me and called me over.
'Here we go, an excuse for more money' I thought

The fitter showed me the tracking machine with all the data on display. He said the tracking was marginally out on both sides, but one side was still in tolerance. He asked if I wanted him to bring it back to the middle of the tolerance band.
He duly did and showed me the results.
I'd also asked them to line the tyre valves up with the coloured Dot on the tyre, which they had.
(More than the Black Circle Premier fitter did when I got the rears done)

All Covid precautions taken and seats covered etc etc
TBH I couldn't fault them

I think the last time I used them was in 1990 to get a new exhaust fitted to my Granada at their Aldershot branch and I had no issues.

It looks as though, like any national chain, service varies wildly from branch to branch.

I've read some poor reviews of Sytner, but when Mrs Tidy and I were using our local one in Sunningdale we never had a problem in 10 years or so.

I've always found them to be fine on price and service. Tyres ordered online are normally competitive with the best prices around. - Walk up is a different story! I've had them mobile fitted at home and work which is great and IIRC didn't add anything in cost. I've had a couple of MoTs which have sailed through and half the standard price many places charge (£25-30) The latest MoTs were in Berkhamstead and I couldn't fault them, they did them at the time booked and were very professional. Are all the negative comments from people that have actually used them, or just don't think they're any good based on heresay?

All mine are from experience.

Ok I’m being a bit tongue in cheek obvs, they must get some right, but all mine happened when I was younger, I wouldn’t touch them tbh, some Indi’s are very good and careful so I go there. The story of the water pump is 100% true, friend came round to mine in tears, she had just got divorced, was running a knackered old Cavalier which sprang a Leak in Chesterfield, Kwik crao were closet and the sods told, her she needed a water pump for £350, it was a spit hose. That’s a damn shitty trick to pull on a girl who obvs knew nothing about cars. She only didn’t have it done as she didn’t have that kind of money as her hubby froze thier accounts.

Its been said that there are poor workers everywhere and it shouldnt make every branch bad because of a few that do have bad workers.
Years ago I was getting a silencer fitted at an ATS. I was sitting in the reception watching the car on the ramp. There was another car brought in to the lift next to mine and the fitter proceeded to stick the legs under one side of the car and lift just one side of the car. But he had left the drivers door open and the leg of the lift on the drivers side raised catching the door and crumpling it quite badly. Glad it wasnt mine and I havnt been back to one since.

I've had good and bad experiences with different branches of Kwik Fit, both a long time ago. It sounds like it still varies depending on the location. I'm loyal to ATS these days as I've had consistently good experiences at two different branches.

I have used ATS in Cwmbran and I was not really impressed, they fitted two tyres to SWMBO 208GTi which were a premium brand and duly charged me £35 for tracking which I thought was expensive or maybe I am just a grumpy tight ole git.

I normally a local indie but he didn't have the tyres available and I would have had to wait a week or so to get them fitted.
