KW Variant 3 owners

Hi,
I will be posting up some pics of my new coupe, but first a question.

who has KW Variant 3's fitted, AND the BMW strut brace? as my KWs arrived, i fitted the fronts, and i've had to remove the strut brace, as the studs are not long enough

Have you swapped from OEM top mounts?

the original top mounts had longer studs on them. i may email KW to see what they suggest

So you've fitted KW camber/caster plates? You should be able to swap the studs for longer ones. If they are those hub bolt studs of the type in the photo below, you should be able to knock the existing bolts out and replace them with some new longer ones.

thats what i am after, the front coilovers came assembled with top mounts. not camber adjustable though. you wouldn't happen to have a link handy for them??

You're confusing me. KWV3 for the Z4M are not coilovers.

You mean the bolts? Go to your local engineering fixings supplier.

i ordered my clubsports with the longer studs, i then had to press them into place.

Sorry, I'm sure McPherson struts were coilovers, and the KWs just had adjustable spring platforms. unless you mean the rears??

Right,

The saga is almost over. after countless discussions with KW (in which it cost me 60 quid for 6 M8 x 40mm studs) i finally got them, and fitted them.

if you have KWV3, without the camber mounts, heed my warning. you NEED to cut 1 stud for each side. as the camber mounts shown in beedubs pic show, are a lot thicker. the supplied studs WILL hit the bonnet (lucky i checked before slamming the bonnet!)

ideally if you want to replace the studs, you need M8 x 30mm. oh, and if you are unlucky like i have been, 4 of the 6 studs just spin before they reach the required torque, so have someone that is handy with a welder close.

once ive had mine spotted into place, i will finally get the cars geo sorted.

funnily enough, thats what i said to them. local fastener places looked at me in a very confused way when i took them the original studs. haha
