Kidney grills

Looking to change up the Kidney grills on the front of my coupe but unsure what to go for or whether to leave them alone.

Monaco blue coupe, Currently has chrome grills and fins which im not overly keen on. The standard change would be to go black, I had this on my e46 3 series but as that was sapphire black it looked ok.

On the monaco blue, I dont know if it would really work or just make the front end look a bit blacked out/chavvy.

Cant seem to find any photos of anyone that has done it, If anyone can track one down it would be most appreciated.

The other option I saw was the fake carbon ones on ebay. Now normally I would dismiss these as a bit tacky but as they are a sort of dark grey, I think they could work with monaco blue as a sort of midway between the chrome and black.

Any opinions?

Why don't you Plastidip your existing grilles. If you don't like them black then you can just peel it off. Also cheaper than £50 for fake carbon ones !

Gonna plastidip mine black next weekend as per pic below (not mine).

I forgot about plasti dip, Did a hartop for my old mx5 with it and was ok. Only issue is you can only really do Matt black which i dont think looks that great. I know they do a gloss but its not really glossy.

Its not that matt tbh.
Was expecting a really matte finish but its more like a 'satin' finish. Did my winter wheels with plastidip recently..

I did mine with black Plastidip and then finished them with the Glossifier which is actually surprisingly glossy. The problem I found was that the Glossifier marks easily so I peeled it all off and did them again just black. I agree that the black is more satin than flat/matt.

I've got these on mine:

Something a little bit different from the norm. Ordered from eBay, but work out about the same direct. Came in a couple of days.

Ive only got two pics of them and there both a bit dark to pic out any detail. i can get some more pics today, its still a bit dark atm.

Yep, plasti-dip 'em. It's a nice finish, high quality. And of course your original grilles are preserved beneath.
If you do go down this route be 'very careful' if considering buying dip from ebay. I got ripped off on there, it got 4 cans of black rubber fake snow, it was fake plasti-dip. Managed to get a partial refund for 3 tins.

Also recommend the plasti-dip route.
I've actually just peeled all mine back off. I started to miss the chrome - never thought I would say that
I felt at times the grille got lost in the car.
So yeah plasti-dip was excellent when I did it and it was a really nice change. Now I am able to change it back for no cost again
You can't go wrong!
