Key remote function has stopped working :(

I think my main key had a button depressed in my rear pocket and the battery has gone flat.

So i opened the car with the other key, and then used my main key to start the car, and went for a 30 minute drive... hoping it would charge my key.

Sadly went to lock the car after my drive and the buttons still dont work :( The other key works fine.

The problem is this key is programmed with my seat preference, so would like to get it to work, and not just use the spare key.

So do i need to drive longer then 30 minutes to charge it? Or could it need a new internal battery? I cant see any screws on the key so how would i open it to even change the battery?

Key is not openable but my keys are both fine after six years alternating use since new, so your battery should be good, just needs a longer charge. Not sure how long though.
 
You may need to reinitialise all your keys to get that one working again, the flat battery may have caused the security codes to be corrupted.

It is possible to ruin a battery by completely discharging it to 0 output, but seems unlikely in your case.

Thanks.. that was exactly it!

I went for a 3 hours drive.. and the remote function still didnt work :(

1. Turn key to position 1 five times very quickly
2. Remove key
3. Hold unlock button then press lock button 3 times, release unlock button.
4. If you have another key do the same button pressing within 30 seconds
5. Turn on ignition to finalize

Which made my old key work... but then i didnt do it for the spare working key and that stopped working!! :headbang:

So i did it again for both keys and now i have 2 fully functioning keys :driving:
 
Good bit of info... all of our cars use the same style key fob, so that's got to come in useful. Already had an issue with a flat key with my 5er when I bought it, so wish I'd known then... :roll:
