I don't have a wife anymore, but I do have two keys and have ops tested this. I think it is an option that can be programmed either ON or OFF. With mine (2003) it will return to the last postion the seat was in when the doors were locked with the respective key (it has nothing to do with the memory 1,2, or 3). If I left the seat back and up when I locked the door with key #1 the next time I unlock the door with Key #1 it will return to the back and up postition. Of course, if I don't use Key #2 the seat will not move when unlocking with Key #1 because it is, duh, still in the last position it was when I locked it. It took forever for the dealer to explain this to me, but when I went home and got my other key and he showed me it all finally made sense. So, in summary, the key/seat memory (in my 2003 model) has no relationship to the Memory 1,2,3 function on the seat - it only remembers last position.
