Key fob memory functions

Right the book states clearly that you can set the following functions in the car.

- All doors lock when driving away
- 3 flash indicators - touch operation (for changing lanes on motorways etc)
- passenger mirror drop down on reversing
plus loads more (cant think of others right now!)

It say to take it to BMW service to get it working!! What?.......... Why do i need to do that? Can i not do it myself?

It's because you need a 'general module' in the car encoding to do this for you and not your key fob.

Unless you have the same equipment as the dealer then you cannot do it.

I have been wanting to know this list, so if anyone can shed any light on what else can be configured...

I asked a stealer recently and tbh they didnt really have a clue!!!

very annoying.

Said I could get the seat to position itself when i put the key in the ignition, but it's a bit pointless when i can press the 1 button etc. I thought it would go to position when opening the car using the fob.

Also want my wing mirrors to fold up when I lock the car. (Have automatic mirrors.)

why dont they have a clue!!

because it is largely dependant on the car and what options have been installed etc. They dont really know until it is hooked up. And even then they may not tell you the complete list - I had to go to an independant to get the passenger window to one-touch up - dealer never mentioned it

Of course the dealers know, but as gannet says it's specific to model, age, options and market

Note the options by car and those that are key specific

Pardeep - the key fob can adjust the seats and you should do this else you risk damage to the motors if you ask them to move the seat and you each time you adjust it.

I asked my local stealer for the cost and he quoted £45. FOURTY FIVE SQUIDs

I decided I'd rather manually lock the door each time I get in......
