Keeping interior clean and smelling fresh

Hi,

I keep my car in my garage for the week. It’s a good modern garage with a pitched roof, plastered ceiling but it has an open loft hatch and ventilation up into the loft.

I rarely use my car in the week, just weekends, so it often stands in the garage for a few days without use. So to anyone else that does this, how do you keep your interior smelling fresh? It sometimes smells a bit of stale air.

I try to put the car away dry, if I can’t, I dry the roof with a microfiber drying towel and ensure the door shuts etc are dry before putting it away. The body would usually dry in a few hours in my garage. I leave the roof up to prevent creases but wonder if I should leave the windows open to get air circulating through it.

I always have the air conditioning on inside the car and I know the interior is dry, not damp. Any good carpet and upholstery cleaners to bring back a nicer fresher smell? Or air fresheners? It’s not that it smells bad, it just doesn’t seem fresh and new anymore.

They are like foam pads that are scented and last AGES!! they are quite strong but you can control how strong they are with a twist cap :thumbsup:
 
I find using a decent leather cleaner regularly helps keep the interior smelling (and feeling) nice :thumbsup:
 
I use glipone leather cleaner and conditioner and autoglym odour remover. the autoglym stuff comes in a spray bottle. Keeps the interior smelling like new.

As has already been said keeping your leather clean keeps the interior smelling fresh and looking good. After i wet vacced my floor mats that made a difference to the smell of the inside of my car, aswell as cleaning the headlining too, mine is a coupe tho, and i also find after cleaning the windows it smells fresh for a day or 2. A good clean of all interior plastics will help too. I've used Autoglym spray car freshener and tbh thought it died away within minutes of being sprayed so i personally wouldn't bother with that.

I have Autoglym and a few other leather cleaners and some leather conditioner, so I’ll give that a go. I’m sure I’ve got some of the Autoglym interior cleaner and their upholstery cleaner, so I’ll go over the carpets and mats with that. I have a dehumidifier at work which will help dry it out once I’ve cleaned everything.

Thanks for all the tips though. It’s going to have a front end refurb in a weeks time at a local bodyshop, so I’m looking forward to getting it back and detailing it all properly. I’m hoping my 90k mile Z4 can come up like nearly new with a bit of elbow grease.

Not the particular odor but the particular product. You spary a little on the carpets of your car, close the doors and let it shine :D . My personal favorite is Green apple flavor.
