Keeping Alloy Wheels Clean

I always use BMW Wheel Cleaner for every car wash, but the wheels get quite dirty after just 200 miles. I never use any wheel wax or sealant before. Autoexpress rated top 3 as Mer Wheel Wax, Angelwax, and Collinite No.845 Insulator Wax. Should the grime and brake dust come off easily with just jet wash (without using wheel cleaner), after the wheel wax is used?

Or can anyone recommend other wheel polish/wax that can keep the wheels clean for longer?

I coated mine with Collinite 915 a couple of months ago. Dirt and grime just slide off when you wash them, and no need for any wheel cleaner.

Thanks for your advice. Also after checking detailing world, Poorboys Wheel Sealant is highly recommended and has been ordered. :) BMW Wheel Cleaner is not cheap (£12 a 500ml-bottle) and I need it for every wash.

How many coats do I need? Should one coat be enough for 3-month protection?

I think on the tub it recommends that a couple of layers will offer more protection.

Your wheels must be fairly easy to clean - having only 5 spokes. My 10 spokes take ages, (twice as long) :P

Give the wheels a damn good clean.
Wrap an old microfibre round behind the spokes and works that whilst the wheel cleaner is on doing its business.
Its best to rpe wax cleanse before so dodo lime prime/lime prime lite etc, even AG srp.
Apply a layer of sealant to the wheels and levae for 10 minutes then buff off.
Give it about half hour for it to out gas then re-applya a second coat, 10 minutes, remove.
Shampoo and various brushes should be all thats requaired after.
Re-apply a coat of wheel sealant every 2 months and life will be cheap and easy.
Poorboys world wheel sealant is one of the best.
I used to stock this and smart rimwax, both excellent sealants for wheels.

Thanks for the tip, I might try the poorboy's solution on my csls. Given the number of spokes I suspect it'll be a wheel at a time over a month or so to get the job done! I never have a problem washing the car but waxing = D-U-L-L

Got into Porboys about a year ago after a strong recommendation - life has been eaiser since, even on customised 108's :)

I bought 2 heavy duty microfibre cloths from Halfords to do the job. Any other suggestions other than polishing cloths?

Elbow grease? :?

A good wheel brush like this: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/ez-detail-wheel-brushes-cat25.html that will get right into the backs of the wheels.

Nope. Putting Poorboys wheel sealant onto the wheels.
