Hi

So i have an intravee 2 and KCA-420i and know about the iphone 5v charging issue for the newer iphones.

I know you can buy one of these to fix that http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/iPod-iPho...6?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item4163af2532

But i bought one and then it broke from usage - plugging the phone in/out everyday.

So I was wondering if i caould use either this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KENWOOD-I...1?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item3cb5eb732d

or this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Alpine-KC...3?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item1e6d8a4b83

to achieve the same effect but in a much neater way - this cable plugging directly into the KCA-420i and no adaptor in the middle of it all.

Thoughts?

Cheers
Jamie

I've just swapped to a newer ipod in the car & have this issue now too, not sure there's gonna be an easy way to find the answer without buying & testing?

I guess you could ebay message one of them asking if you could return it, perhaps on the promise you'd get 1 or 2 more orders on here if it worked?

Pretty sure that won't work.

Later Alpine radios use something the call hi speed or full speed, the KCA-422i and KCA-433i are cables that connect directly to a socket on these radios. I'd be amazed if the connector was the same as the iPod cable from the KCA-420i.

You can reduce the stress and strain on the in line type charge converters by using a fully wired iPod dock extender cable. There are plenty of extender cables available on e-bay, but I'm not sure if they have all the connections that the KCA-420i requires. I know this one works http://www.cablejive.com/products/dockXtender.html the cheaper ones may or may not!

When you use the dock extender you connect the charge converter between the KCA-420i cable and extender :

KCA-420i cable -> Charge Converter -> Dock Extender -> iPod/iPhone.

The junction between the KCA-420i cable and Charge converter can then be hidden out of harms way.
