Hi All,

Yesterday i put down a deposit on a 2003 3.0L Z4, Black, Elec Seats, Heated Seats, Sat Nav, Steptronic, all the usual stuff.

I am currenly selling my Vauxhall VX220 http://pistonheads.com/sales/845705.htm but hopefully picking up the Z in the next two weeks. I initially looked for the 2.5 but i was advised on the VX220 forum that i would be dissapointed with the power compared to my current car (2.2 150bhp but weighs as much as bag of chips) so i opted for the 3.0L.

Im 23 paying around £900 on my current car which is insurance group 18 and highly modified, the Z4 is group 19 but obviosly standard so it shouldn't be far off what i'm already paying.

I will really really really miss the VX, and for the last 6 months i've ummmed and arred on whether to sell it, mostly because on the VX forum there are a high number of owners who sell; then end up buying another again in a few months beacuse they miss the drive. Especially after spending the last two years upgrading and sorting all of the faults on it i didnt want to just sell my 'sorted' one and end up doing all the work all over again on another. After sitting in the Z4 last night however i think it has enough toys, power and comfort to keep me occupied for a while!

Anyway, here are a few photos of the new car, any comments welcome :)

Hope to speak to you all soon!

looks nice mate, what's the value of the Zed? I bought something similar last week, difference is the manual transmission.

You def. needed to get the 3.0i after the VX220. Good buddy of mine drives one and I think you'll find the Zed down on go kart type performance, but at least you 'll be able to drive all day in it Vs. the 20 mins. I last in the VX before I ache....

Welcome n1k_85,

I (think) recognise your car from my (very brief) time on vx220.org while I was researching a VX before settling on a Z4. You will miss the VX's handling as the Z4 is very different: a lot more weight. But as CJ says above, it's far easier to live with a Z4 than a VX! :). Quite a contrast from a very involving lightweight sports car to an auto though.

I had a couple of runs in some VX member's cars (lazydonkey and CraigS) and loved it, but in the end I decided I couldn't live with one on a daily basis - it'd end up pissing me off!

Yours looks to be a highly specced Z4: heated seats, sat nav and I don't know what else is there that I can't see.
