Hi guys new to the forum but already read a lot of great info on here thanks for the resources!

I have just put a deposit on a z4 2.5l, with a sport button, its an old one 2003 model but drives absolutely superb and think I got a decent price, cant wait until next week when I pick it up.

Its not my first BMW I had an e39 5 series a very long time ago so its my first Beemer in a while and drives so much better than my current car (hyundai coupe)

Already planning the first few mods, which will be cruise control - going on a euro rodtrip so will be nice to have considering the amount of mileage we'll be covering, and one of the mediabridge bluetooth usb thingys for the stereo. Other than that I think I'll keep the car pretty much standard but you never know its easy to get carried away when you start to see little things that can be improved

Welcome to the forum, lookin forward to the pics once you have it  gonna be a long wait till next week!

Welcome , look forward to the pics when it arrives :camera:

Yeah, I thought that too....

Thanks for the welcome, and yes I'll post some photos when I have it, there's a few small dints and a scrape on the bodywork that I want to sort out before I take some decent photos but will take a few quick snaps next week

I did the same when I bought my last car thought there was noting I needed to do with it spent £400 in the space of a couple of weeks replacing badges, speakers, fitting a reverse camera it soon adds up, the z4 is a proper sports car so I'm less worried about the gadgets for it.. but already been eyeing up the clear central break light as the car is silver so I think it'll look better than the red one, any one know if its a standard swap?

Details on how to take out old and install new one

Thanks guys will definitely be doing the rear light upgrade looks awesome on the silver z4 and easy enough to fit. Wanting to fit the cruise control and then bluetooth before I start any styling mods, but this is the first one I'm doing makes a real difference to the rear of the car, definitely looks more modern

Just remembered my Mrs took a photo when I did the test drive so here's a little teaser of the new car, can't wait til this time next week when I'm officially a z4 owner :D

Hello

welcome to the forum

when you change your rear brake light go to the dealers and ask for the updated spring kit

The updated spring kit has different mounting springs with lower Nm force .. there is also a new updated install PDF document that goes with it. This will stop the rear break light from cracking with stress.

Also do not over tighten the nuts , the torque required is very low .. most people over tighten hence the stress cracks with the old springs

hope this helps and is of some use .. I can dig out the part numbers if required

Good advice from Jamesbond, I had to replace the last one cos it had cracked. When I replaced it I have to admit I used the original springs but I was careful not to over tighten

Ordered the break light today from Sopers came to about £52, the new springs were an extra £7 but the guy in the parts dept. I spoke to said most people don't bother with them so I left them off the order, and will just be very careful with the tightening
