I have a 2003 R53 mini Cooper S. It has covered only 21400 miles and is pretty much spotless, what or where would be the best for price should I sell it ?

Checked for similar on Pistonheads/Autotrader?

A few people I've spoken to prefer the R53 though due to reliability problems the R56 can encounter with coking.

Also look at optional extras yours has compared to others on the market?

And as above look at similar cars on Pistonheads / Autotrader / eBay

The optional extras has a big impact on price for the mini, low miles however its still 11 years old and with that mileage i would be worried its a bit too low, not used much and maybe parts are ageing on it that have been overlooked due to low miles. That said the condition of it should out weigh that stuff.

Looks like £4k or there're abouts for a sale and upto about £4.5k for trade in.

As for the low mileage it has been garaged and regularly maintained a "special days" car where my Z and Mondeo are daily drivers.

Usually you got more selling privately?

If garages are selling them £4.5k then they're not going to offer you that. Or do you mean £4k sale to a garage?

If you decide to hold off for a month let me know. I'm thinking about a change and had been thinking about maybe filling a slot in the garage with one of these.
