Just made a huge mistake.. Locked my key in the boot with no spare key

Removing the bumper and through the air vent is probably the best bet, cause the key is right in the corner on the right hand side.
 
What colour is your car? If a popular one and plenty of boots available on eBay I might be tempted to cut a hole through the boot. Drastic but saves all the faff of removing a bumper. :thumbsup:
 
Hang on hang on!!

Call a lock smith or similar. A mate of mine did this years ago with a 325 compact. A dude turned up and got it out without any damage. The alarm went off but so what you have the key.

To be fair though Machine Monkey does have a point. Its a boring way but will probably be cheaper than cutting a gaping hole. :D
 
Thankfully no hole cutting or expensive German locksmith needed. Just the help of an eager Russian work colleague :)

No need to get a spare key - might as well save the considerable expenditure. You can be sure that he will never again close a door or boot lid without ensuring that the key is in his hand. I have only one key for my M6 coupe, and since the cost of a spare is so ridiculous, I am paranoid about the location of the key when I am leaving the car. (It is always in my pocket, as the car knows that it is somewhere inside the vehicle)

I'd get a spare. It's madness not to really as anything could happen to the original accidental. Unlikely but you could drop it in a puddle or down a grid etc and then you really are in trouble until you get another.
Sounds unlikely I know but a mate of mine dropped his Vauxhall Astra key down a grid getting out of it when we were at college. Back in 92 this so it was just a key (No electrics) fortunately he hadn't yet locked it yet so we could let the handbrake off push the car out of the way to lift the grid up and fish the key out .
Was quite funny though and he certainly was never let forget it!
