Evening all :)

I gave up on retro fitting the standard nav and got a nice Garmin! Bluetooth, traffic updates, speed cameras and UK/Europe maps.

From my tests so far I'm loving it!!

I want to fit a permanent supply so I don't have a cable across my dash. Is there anywhere else to get power other than behind the cigarette socket? I'm going to mount it to the right of the dials by the pillar.

Thanx for anyhelp with this :D

Spoony!

I think a good place to get a 12V supply is Halfords!

Sorry, couldn't resist!

I just use a single point spliced from the ignition for all (fused of course).

Happy Naving!

Hey sceptre I am very impressed with the Nuvi so far! :D

Did you run the supply from the fuse panel or splice into an existing supply?

When I installed my satnav I spliced in a new cigarette lighter socket (inline socket bought from Maplins), but left it hidden away behind the trim. That way I could run the wiring for the satnav but I didn't have to damage the power cable to permanently wire it in. When I got rid of the car it was nice and easy to pull it all out and the cable for my satnav is still useable in other cars. I left the socket installed under the trim so it will either be a pleasant or worrying surprise for the new owner.

I did all this under the ashtray panel. I know you're not keen on putting it there, but the principal is the same wherever you stick it.

I was thinking of doing it exactly the same :)

Put a cigarette socket under the radio in the massive void! Like you said you can then still use the charger in another car. Think I might have a fiddle ( :P ) and get the current socket out and look at space/cable length etc.
