Just done my first 500 mile round trip in my zed

I have only had the zed a few weeks but we went away for two days this week from Yorkshire to Wiltshire via the Cotswolds the weather was so warm but we didn't have the top down for the first part of the journey due to the grim Yorkshire weather :) but after lunch in a lovely Cotswolds inn we had the top down to our destination in a a sleepy village in Wiltshire where we pulled up at a thatched inn with stunning food and accommodation :) the warm air felt so good whilst driving and the car felt just amazing.

I loved our mx5 but this stunning 3.0si sport roadster is just something special :) on the way home we made it all the way with the top down and from Nottingham back to home we were averaging 40.3 mpg :) which really pleased me.

I am getting to know the car more and more and I am just falling in love with it as I didn't once feel an ache from the long drive, this car is such a comfortable car to take on a long journey and that weather was sublime with the top down. I LOVE MY CAR :D

40.3 mpg is good going from a 3.0.Glad that you managed to get the top down on your 500 mile trip,it makes a big difference :thumbsup:

Well to get 40.3 I did hit a bit of traffic but mostly I was sat around 70/75 so I was really pleased it is much better on fuel than I thought it would be, but it is a weekend car so it doesn't bother me what it does when it brings me feelings like I just experienced :)
 
Glad you love the car, top-down driving is brilliant fun. I was also amazed at the economy on a long run. Out of interest, where did you go in Wiltshire? I grew up there and having now moved away, realise what a nice part of the country it is!

We went to pewsey and stayed in a picture postcard village we never realised what a gorgeous county it was and there were thatched roofs everywhere, we did an 8 mile walk on the pewsey downs very close to the amazing white horse :)

If you are ever down Dorset way, a walk I would recommend is Swanage to Corfe along the Purbeck Hills.

There is a steam train between Corfe and Swanage. Needs some planning. Have a nice drive to Corfe in the Z. Park at the train car park. Look around Corfe. Take the train to Swanage. Look around Swanage. Walk North out of Swanage and up the hill. Walk along it with lovely views back to Corfe. i think the walk took about 4 hours.

Very pleasant.

Funny you should say that as Dorset is a County we haven't been to and really want to go there but it's finding the right dog friendly inn as I am very fussy about where we stay and after the amazing place I found it Wiltshire it won't be easy finding one as good as that :) That walk sounds fab as I have heard of the Purbeck hills.
 
The Dorset coast West from where I live in Poole is a really lovely unspoiled area. Feels like you have stepped back in time 30 years. Durdle Dor and Lulworth Cove are worth a visit but many other places too.

How do you fit dog and wife in he Z?
 
This trip sounds great :thumbsup:

We are yet to do our 1st trip in the Z and it won't be until next June, we are trying to decide now where to go.

Thinking about the Lakes, Scottish Lochs, maybe Brittany but Dorset sound nice we've never been to that part of the UK.

Oh decisions decisions 8)

Sounds fab I love places that seem like you are travelling back in time as for the dog he is a miniature wire haired dachsund so he has a harness on and sits on Linda's lap and he loves car rides :) I know you mention Lulworth cove but we love places that not many people go to, the walk we just did in Wiltshire was so stunning and so quiet so if you can give me any pointers :)
 
There are some nice ones that start near Dorchester. One you can visit Thomas Hardy's cottage along the way.

If you get bored of walking there are some interesting paces to visit. Bovington tank museum is a good one if the missus is patient. Mine just loves going there!!! (Not)
 
I'm doing 800 miles round Wales next week (split over 4 days), can't wait! :D

Surprisingly comfortable cars for long distances.
