Just checking (yes, wheel/tyre offsets again)

I run a staggered set-up of 8x18 ET 34 front and 8.5x18 ET37 rear on my e85, not lowered, on sport springs. Tyres are 225/40 front and 255/35 rear. No problems at all.

If I wanted to go with a square set up of 8x8.5 ET37 all round, would the recommendation be to stick with 225 tyres up front (ie square rims but staggered tyres)?

Also, would I get away with going up to M-spec tyres, increasing the sidewalks to 45 front and 40 rear?

Kind of 2 questions posed so therefore 2 answers
You have said 8x8.5j but i assume you meant 4 x 8.5j ? et 37 square / if you want staggered tyre set up ( which can be done no issues)
then 225 or 235 40 18 front with 245 40 18 rear would work
If you want 45 front 40 rear then maybe consider 215 or 225 45 18 with 245 40 rear .
So many variables so many options , there really is no defined right or wrong , you just have to go with what suits your car & your requirements

Thanks. Ha, yes, I did mean 8.5 ET37 all round. 2 hours sleep last night is taking its toll!

Just toying with options. Think I have a bit of a wheel problem developing. Why can’t I be happy with what I have got and stop looking at others which pop up for sale! :?

Yes . I think i suffer from this affliction too

HI, I went for a square set up all round when I bought the Schnitzers, 4 x 8.5 x ET43 with 225 x 40 x 18 which gives a fairly neutral handling set up and can change the wheels around. Keeps the speedo accurate as well. Would prefer a ET37 wheel as they would stick out a bit more giving a slightly wider track. Spacers would have the same effect but in NZ you need to go through a $600 certification process which doesn’t make it cost effective so I might be joining the “another set of wheels” club.

I do like the staggered look though and could sort out the handling through suspension settings.

Cheers
