ok its a bit pricey, but at £99 with the guarantee its not bad, i put a headlight in today and was glad to finally have proper tools rather that rooting around the garage for various kits now scattered everywhere. case isnt too crappy either - not one for your serious mechanics but for diy enthusiasts i think its a good buy - even if it is from halfrauds!

You sure you're not going to be berated for buying that for yourself so close to Christmas?

I have a Halfords socket set that an ex bought for me over 10 years ago - lasted really well! Some friends are astonished all the bits are in the relevant slots in the case... how the hell could they not be?!
 
well i needed it, so its not a present more a necessity :wink: its probably just paid back half its value today! this will be locked away from the family so WILL be a complete set.
 
Good piece of kit - I have some of their 'Profesional Series' ratchet spanners bought in a sale some years ago. They have given excellent service. :thumbsup:
 
Halfords Pro stuff is very good. I've had a big socket set for years and very reliable. If you do lose a bit you can always replace it from their single item range.

Warranty is useless and covers everything except using the tools and the discounts quoted makes me laugh. In this instance sold at the higher price for 5 weeks and no doubt in some back town branch.
 
i found this via the 205gti forum, a few people on there have said when they have broken torx bits they have been replaced with little fuss. the moving parts are not covered but at least if something breaks its a quick trip for a replacement. agreed its never worth £200, but £100 easily.
 
here's a question, when buying a metric socket set, why are the drivers still imperial (sockets all in millimeters but ratchet is 3/8th drive)
