Hi all,

After a long look around I finally purchased the z4 i've been after for a while!
Found a 54 reg 1 owner 3.0i z4 in grey with 25k miles for £13200.

It was in mint condition inside and out apart from a bit of wear&tear on the hood. Its got Ellipsoid alloys, heated seats and parking sensors. Apart from that I think it's pretty standard as I wanted to find one with Xeons and poss bluetooth.

After a bit of advice on purchasing some accessories for the car!

Shopping List;
Grey hardtop
New aerial? Are there any smaller aerials that will fit the current fitting?
Bluetooth kit - what's a good after market product?
Anything else I should consider doing?

Looking forward to readng all the advice on the forums!

Cheers
Steve

Hi Steve, Congratulations on the purchase.

All the mods you suggest have been covered several times, so do some searching rather than repost.
Mango or stubby are your starter words for the aerial. Hardtop on Ebay for around £900, Bluetooth Parrot or the OEM retrofit.

And don't forget a few photos else the crowd get restless

Cheers for the reply!
Yes photos will be up on Tuesday once I've picked the car up, now have to wait carless for a few days! :x
Will investigate the mods mentioned!

thanks

cheers, just ordered one from the US on eBay:

steve-m, welcome along. Good choice, same age and similar mileage to my 3.0i roadster although you've got more toys than me :poke:

1. If you've not got xenons (like me) then you'll find the headlights a bit pants tbh. Easily solved by replacing the bulbs with something like Philips Xtreme +80% dipped beam bulbs plus adjusting the height of the headlamps aim (search on here). Alternatively, I'm still considering some of those HID conversion bulbs from ebay but not convinced yet as my Philips Xtreme plus adjusted height setup is pretty good.

2. Non-runflat tyres when yours are worn out! You won't regret it :)

Long few days 'til Tuesday then...
Ally

cheers Ally, wanted to upgrade the lights but I know xenons are expensive so the Philips seem like a good comprimise.

Stuggling waiting already and I've got the whole weekend to go still, I might go and sit outside a BMW garage

Same change here and imho they go from basically useless to perfectly acceptable :)

It didn't help the bulbs in there had corroded elements (looked all crusty) etc, but good new H7's and a single turn up on the adjusters and they are totally transformed :)

wheres the cheapest/best place to get the replacement bulbs?

cheers

Yep, can't remember where I bought mine but most places same sort of cost. Make sure you adjust the height too as that has more effect than new bulbs alone IMO. Think I'm 2 full-turns up rather than 1, doesn't seem to annoy other motorists that I'm aware of!

cheers for the advice guys, couldn't see the Philips Xtreme +80% one's on http://www.consumabulbs.com ?? Found them for £25 inc delivery on eBay. I presume there easy enough to swap over.

There you go :D but a little dearer than £25.00

I think I did a 360deg spin (one full turn) and I've only had one person flash me and it was in the usual place where people flash you when you are cresting a hill and they are at the bottom even with normally adjusted headlights... you can see where the beams land anyway and they are still far from windscreens so all is good :)

I think I bought Osram 90%+ bulbs for mine actually, they are really nice. I think I'll get some for full-beam too for this winter :)

Bulbs are on order and only a day to wait until I pick up the car! Weather is supposed to be good tomorrow too - roof down I think!?

Good stuff, can't beat the first drive home with the car if you can get the roof down. Unfortunately my drive home afer buying was 200 miles in 2degC in December, but at least it was sunny and I got a chance to test the heater...

ahhh! I think I've jinxxed myself. BMW can't insure me as I'm under 25 so I cannot benefit from their 7 day free insurance. I was going to pick up my car tomorrow and they need confirmation of my insurace to renew the tax disc however Elephant (who I've just renewed with) haven't sent my documents in the post yet!!! and won't bloody email them over. So I have no proof of insurance to get my tax disc tomorrow.

Any other options?
