Just been told im being made redundant

Never something you want to happen. Take it as an opportunity. At your age you should soon find somthing better.

Left the Navy when I was 29. Retrained. sent out some 400 cv's by post. (the good old way). Got rather good at inteviews. Had six job offers.

Put the effort in, you'll be fine :thumbsup:
 
Sorry to hear that, but without knowing all the detail, not that I wish to, I am a great believer in looking forward. Wouldn't a legal case just sap your energy and prevent you from forging ahead with 100% effort? Onwards and upwards, I'm sure it'll be their loss and your gain at the end of the day. Chin up!
 
Take the cash settlement & move on , the negativity of pursuing your "case" will eat away at your energy & enthusiasm that would be better placed into your next position .
Whatever you walk out with is better than nothing :wink:
 
Have to agree with the last couple of posts - you need to look forward, not backwards. Put your efforts, energy and thoughts into what you want to do next (and that may not be another 9-to-5 job!) rather than what has gone before.

I was made redundant (totally out of the blue) in December after 17 years at the same bank. After a bit of a lean period, and turning down a couple of offers because they just weren't what I wanted to do, I started a new job last week.
 
Find out how much you would recoup through unfair dismissal. There is a limit to what you can achieve and I believe it's a surprisingly low figure.

Find out first because if I'm right it might be a great deal of hassle and upset for very little return.

Having said that - you might wish to make a point to your company. . .in which case I can well understand your motivation.

I resigned from my top flight job of 19 years and 6 months just before they were going to make me redundant (long story)

Started my own business (10 years ago) and never looked back - had a massive mortgage wife 2 small children and survived....
big risk but I did it !!!! and so can you......

here's one ironic point..... I called the switchboard of the company I had worked at for almost 20 years just 10 days after leaving and guess what ? they didn't even know who I was ....... ha ha ha ha at the time I was devastated - now I just laugh :rofl:
