108 is my favourite wheel for the Z4. It's unique, the MV2 is all over the e46. 224s are alright but CSLs look better on Ms.

A fair summary i would say although worth noting the 108s are no lighter just because they are BBS as suggested by the Op :wink:

I think you've got it wrong. The 108's look better than any of the aftermarket you posted.

Yes i suppose its down to taste as i actually think the 108 stlye is one of the worse looking wheels on a Z4 i much prefer the look to the MV2 alloys and the way the sit tight under the arch its makes them look like 19's not 18'2 being flatter and multi spoked. The best wheel has got to be the 107 stlye for me i think the first time i seen a z4 with those alloys on that really made me want one a z4.

As for weights has anyone tested this as i thought these BBS 108 style were 10kg for some reason. Most other bmw alloys are 11kg the 17's i fitted last were in fact only 9kg I've just seen. I'm a bit gutted as i did want to test 1/4 mile time again but on 17" this weekend at Stratford public track day to see if it did give a better time than 14.2 on the 19". The car felt best on 19" i think the extra weight of the wheels is great for traction. It's far too easy to wheel spin using the 17" so starts may of not been any better. Steering is a lot lighter on 17" to turns in are quicker.

As for using X5 alloys on a sports car its a big NO for me they are like 5kg heavier each wheel that can't be good for handling and wear rate of components. Z4 weighs 1450kg and x5 is about 2200kg huge difference that's why the alloys are heavier to take the weight. They might look good on a Z4 but ruins the cars feel surely

My 19" CSL reps with standard tyres were at least 1kg lighter per wheel than my 108s with runflats.

Yeah they look great on E46, E92 and Z4's im sure Borbet makes them alloys for Bmw. They weigh to much though I've seen loads of lads fit these over the years to various non X5 bmw's They don't stay on long once they realise what everyone already told them prior to getting them. These alloys used to sell at high money £800+ now people are giving them away at £300 I've seen. I did see them on a E92 at a show and it did look so nice tbh. Lighter alloys the better for me though the car turns in much faster. It wont stress the steering rack as much and at low speeds your not having an arm wrestle with the steerig wheel trying to park.
