Journey to work

Started a new job this week which involves a 15min walk. Walking is really not my thing, however I am enjoying this one in the morning :

...and in the evening on the way back :

Sorry about the crap picture quality, but as a non-tourist it is very important to not look like a tourist...which requires taking photos quickly and nonchalantly

Pretty sure loads of people have better journeys to work - if you've got a photo, stick it up

Alternatively, say something derogatory or ask if we can get back to cars if you like - it's a car forum after all and we should try to stay in character

Waaaay to close to where I have to go, must ensure I avoid you at all cost :P

I was in the dark glass building on the right side of your first picture....

In mid Jan we're moving to a brand spanking new office opposite Cannon Street station so I'll be walking over London Bridge past your office. I'll walk on the far side of the bridge to ensure we avoid each other

Usually I am at Great Eastern street so I have quite a bit further to walk. That was just a meeting at a reseller's site, so a one off :D

I could use your rugby instructions on how to get over London Bridge through the crowds though ... :x

Pick a line and stick to it, make yourself look big, walk slightly quicker than those around you but not too fast, and most importantly never, ever make eye contact. Also, always look behind you before changing direction. Kind of like assertive driving really :P

I could try the mad Dutch look on my clogs I suppose :D

I already obtained the mandatory back pack, but obviously don't look enough like a terrorist for people to avoid me I suppose 8)

I'm also in the Square Mile. We should have a city w*nkers meet - everybody brings a picture of their car and we very quickly scoff down an overpriced lunch of raw fish cubes, garden weeds and homeopathic hemp water in silence before hastily returning to our desks.

Can I bring a sound recording of my exhaust as well to make it a really saddo meeting?

I know it gives Bing a oral pleasure (or aural). 8)

Congratulations on the new job, if you've put this news in another post, tough as I can't be arsed looking for it. :D

Was thinking about you this morning, not in a nightmare kind of way, nor erotic. Just that you took redundancy a while back and had not heard that you'd got something and was slightly concerned. Anyways good luck my friend x

As for the walk to work, nope, not lazy just to far, but I do try and walk around the dock (3-4 miles) on a lunchtime to keep my chocolate addiction turning me into a 16 stone heffa :D

MrPT, that is not a bad idea actually, I think there's a few of us

pvr, aural... And I think it's the scoop / induction noise rather than the exhaust

sars, whilst I am devastated that your thoughts were not erotic, thank you. I didn't really 'announce' it, just stuck a three word post in the "describe your day in..." thread. Things didn't go exactly to plan, but I'm delighted to be employed after 8 months off, very happy with the employer/role/package etc., and extremely relieved that I was able to start in December so that a) I could un-cancel Christmas, b) do some upskilling before the start of next year as I know nothing about the market, services or my customers, and c) the tax man would agree to take the money I owe out of next year's tax code instead of beggaring me in January

It's a bit weird being in an office again (at least for now) after being a home-based worker for 13+ years, also getting up real early and getting back real late every day... Though I am classed as a remote worker so that will change over time as I settle in. Mrs B has had some adjustment issues too - I don't think she realised (appreciated ? Lol) the amount of stuff I was doing round the house & for the family when I wasn't working

Think we'd all be happy with a couple taken from inside :poke:

Thought u were WFH Bing, didn't realise u were so close

Only in the office all the time right now as I don't know anything or anybody... By 2 or 3 months in I should be out with customers most of the time, and working from home when it suits. However, culturally the company is still very office based. I've already heard one or two comments about people 'never in the office, not sure what they're doing' - it's all a bit 1990's to me

Hmm, the office based people generally are in the office say at 9 and leave at 6 or so, whilst the home based ones start at 8 and work till 8 ...

Jembo, scary thought, isn't it ...

A man in a skirt, deffo

Am surprised by how many of you on this thread are nearby - not much happens in January, so Bing, before you're out too much with customers can always meet up for a 'refreshment' or two along with anyone else who's about
