Released today

No prizes for guessing which manufacturer won.........Kia scored a surprise hit getting number 4 spot for cars with the Cee'd.

Full details here:

Strange that Alfa, Chrysler, Diahatsu, Dodge, Jeep, Porsche, Smart and Subaru are omitted.
It's not like they don't have enough sales, or maybe it's down to requiring a minumum number of responses?

How do owners take part in this?

First time I've ever had a car young enough to be eligible for the JD Power. Pity I missed the survey being done.

Quoting from the survey:
Included in the study, but not ranked due to small sample size are: Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Daihatsu, Dodge, Jeep, Porsche,
smart and Subaru.

In the past I've participated as I had a vehicle that fell in the selected age and model range. Pretty extensive survey when you get it. Selected from DVLA records

My big gripe with the survey is that people respond based upon their expectations. So for instance BMW are epxected as the ultimate drivers machine to be perfect, so if only 'excellent' they get marked down. Look at Skoda. Better than the parent companies and ones they took all their quality from base don the survey. Owners don't expect perfection, but get a good product and defend their choice and purchase.

Lexus on the other hand buitl a whole brand around customer satisfaction, so no suprise however average in terms of design customers are kept happy and respond accordingly.

I simplify and exaggerate but hope that it makes sense.

Interesting stuff... particularly struck by how much better the A6 has done in comparison to the BMW 5....

and the x type .... the x type beat the 3 series....

for me it is these like for like comparisons that must be worrying for car makers.

I was considering an X5 next time round but it's JD power result hardly sells it over my existing LR Disco. so based on the above when it comes round to change i'll try out a an allroad but not a X5.

struck by how skoda octavia did much better than the seat leon ..... underneath very similar cars .. this could be a classic case of expectation and owner type being different.....

thanks for posting the link this stuff is always good to know

wow Kia 4th place, still rather 's**t in my hands and clap' than drive one though.....

Your observation is in line with my gripe re the survey, especially re the Skoda Vs Leon and expectation and thus responses.

As an aside nobody foosl me into believing the Jag is better than the 3 series of Disco than the X5.....

depends what size of discount the x-type owners got on their cars i guess.....

X5 actually does better than disco .. but not by much and issues are similar owners like the car but not the reliability...

octavia/ leon could also be a build quality issue..... the skoda factory has been known to win the internal VAG quality award.... which also includes the crewe plant...... (ignore the above just read the what car piece on this and reliability is listed as one thing that lets the octvia down)

surprised about the 5 series its the one saloon in the bmw range that i prefer over the like for like model from audi.
