Jaaaag!

Get an Aston and enjoy being poor in style.
I would get a DB9 in a heartbeat, but they come with serious 'AM tax' on any part and are essentially an XK underneath.
My next door neighbour has a 2008 DB9. It is a complete money pit to keep anywhere near a road.

In terms of engineering and dynamics, I understand the DB9 was a significantly better car after about 2013 or 2014. However, that says nothing about reliability…
The V8 Vantage is a more reliable option, but has a tendency to eat clutches if not driven with mechanical sympathy. Apparently, that includes not reversing up hill in the semi-automatic!

Absolutely agree. The thought of a DB9 kept me going at work for a few years. Once I retired early though, the financial realities soon put that one to bed. I bought another house and an Mx5 instead.

I would follow suit, but the wife has vetoed any more house purchases. Apparently she has had enough of living in s**t-holes while I renovate them!

If you haven't already, have a go in an SL55 if you like the idea supercharged V8, a good late one with under 50k miles should be way less than the XKR. They are loud and lary and IMO have aged really well.

And not British made

And not British made
Nothing wrong with British made. So far, my British ICE cars (Westfield, Lotus, Jaguar) have been far more reliable than those from Germany (two Audis, two Mercedes, two BMWs).
I had enough of British maids though, hence moving to sunnier climes:giggle:
