I've started the Paint Correction

Had ///M now for nearly a year and had finally got round to starting the paint correction. I've had a PC for around 7 years but never really had the courage to do any real correction only using for buffing.

However with the purchase of my ///M it has meant I had to carry out paint correction as the car being black and not ashed correctly is covered in very fine scratches. I invested in a paint gauge so I have an idea how much material I'm removing which has always worried me hence my hesitance to carry out correction.

After trying some Poorboys SSR 2.5 without much luck I invested in some Meguiars 205 and 105 and used my existing Sonus Orange 4" pads. So far I've used the 205 with only two passes with pressure and then two passes without pressure as per the instructions.

I've only done a couple of panels but here are some before and afters. The photos arent the best but I think you get the idea.
The light pattern on the before is blurred more due to the poor paint where as the afters is less hazy. I know there are a few marks left but I'm please with the result and will go over again when I do some more, hopefully tomorrow.

Looks very good  Now you started it should become much easier.

I just brought a Flex Polisher which arrived today, just need to sorce some backing plates and pads. Planing on attending a course at the end of the month at KDS to gain the skills to use it correctly :)

Not a bad start mate! IMO though you need to do more passes to work the polish effectively and gain more correction. I do six-seven passes with my DA, the first one on speed 2 to spread the polish, a couple of speed 4 working up to two on speed six and a light final pass on speed two.

I do this with my cutting polish then the same again with a finishing polish on a finishing pad. I use the menzerna polishes but the principal is the same with different brands.

Do you use detailing world? An excellent source for detailing advice :)

As they say slowly slowly catchy monkey.

I can alway correct more, but if I cock it up by going to hard I'd be pretty pissed. As I said its my first real go so am taking my time. Now I know I'm not really removing anything though I will make 3-4 passes as you suggest and will have a go with 105 maybe.

Have to say I spend a fair bit of time on DW these days
