I've search, but still another roof motor question...

Firstly I have searched the forum and can confirm:

- this is not a stuck-in gold pin / release valve problem
- this is not a shelf switch problem
- the pin inside the roof motor that spins the white plastic wheel is in place
- this is not a motor problem (brand new roof motor, spinning fiercely in both directions for the first time in a while!)
- the hydraulic lines are paired correctly (is it possible to have them organised incorrectly on the correct screw? not sure...)
- the +ve / -ve are connected and have experimented with swapping
- there is enough oil in the reservoir (have tried over-filling too to no avail too)

So what's my problem? The bloody roof doesn't work of course! AGAIN!

It unlocks, motor kicks into life and nothing happens.

To open I have to hold the open button and push the roof upwards, then with it's own weight it falls backwards and down. But once open, the roof does not close. To close the roof I have to have a second pair of hands push the golden pin and pull the roof up and close with my hands

To me it seems like there is no change in hydraulic pressure at within the hydraulic system when pushing the open / close buttons.

I notice that the level of oil inside the reservoir doesn't seem to decrease / increase either

So I wonder what the problem might be?

I really am at a loss as to what is going wrong...

Nothing that I can recall, the motor was relocated last year and then it packed in. So replaced the motor recently but when put back together the roof is not opening

If the roof falls under it’s own weight then you have no hydraulic pressure. 99% of the time that is because the bypass plunger is stuck in but if you are 100% sure there is no issue there, then I would probably disconnect the hydraulic hoses from the pump and see if there is any fluid movement at all out of the hoses when you open / close the roof. If not I guess it could be a hydraulic ram problem but thats pretty much unheard of on here.

It’s the pump. I had the same problem. The motor works fine but not enough pressure to lift the roof. Changed the pump, now works perfectly.

And the op had replaced the pump immediately before it stopped working, there’s got to be a smoking gun right there. :?

As ph says, you have no hydraulic pressure for whatever reason, either the bypass is stuck open or you have not filled it correctly. How and where did you put the fluid in and how did you check it.

The pump being this part only that the motor fits in to?roof pump.jpeg

Where did you source yours and what was the damage? I'm finding lots of replacement motors online, but nowhere selling the pump only

Unscrewed the plug at the top of the oil reservoir, poured hydraulic jack oil int until the level reached the + sign on the side, re-screwed with alan key and connected everything back together

did you do that repeatedly ? we filled mine about 6 times as it pumped round the system, doing it once will do diddly squat as it needs to bleed/purge the system, also we found looking at what we thought was the level from the outside actually wasnt, just the tide mark so to speak , and found the most reliable method was to dip a tie rap like a dipstick and measure it. Keep filling it and you will hear the tone of the motor change as you open and close the roof.

you have got the motor mounted vertically, or near to vertical? It won't work on its side.
Have you reconnected the bowden cable, the slightest bit of tension will push in the valve so no hydraulic pressure.....its best to take it off to make sure until you get this sorted.
