iTV "New" Thunderbirds

Just watching the "New" Thunderbirds .... oh dear

Prefer Gerry Andersons original, I'm sure some of you remember watching this any moons ago...

Its a bridge to far for me as well. I hope it will grow on me. The original was such a big part of my early child hood so it could be difficult.

For me too, much preferred the originals when I was a kid.

It certainly moves faster than the original series.
Music is missing
My favorite baddie!

Mrs was watching it in the car when I popped into the shop- looked crap- all politically correct and cgi!

Watched a bit of it too, just out of curiosity. I like how they kept a lot of the original touches, like the detail in the way each Thunderbird takes off. The pace is definitely a lot more frenetic than the original, but overall, not bad for a first ep. Didn't find it massively entertaining, but then again, I'm not 8 years old anymore. :)

I watched it as I was at my sisters. My dad has got the entire lot of Thunderbirds and captin Scarlet on DVD for the boys but I'm not sure they'll even watch them now. My sister and brother in law were saying that when the boys (2&4) see what I watched as cartoons when I was a kid that they think there is something wrong with the program as they are very much immersed in CGI, 3D, computer generated graphics nowadays. Sad really.

Clearly I didn't watch Thunderbirds first time round but I did watch it growing up. Jings I even made airfix models of the lot.

Oh and Brains is now from India?? Just seemed strange to keep a lot of it the same I.e. Accents etc for everyone else but change him

I thought it was pretty good. And anyway, it's not designed for all you 50/60 something's out there! It's for kids and a new generation, hence it moving to CiTV and 8am on Saturdays.

Now, accept times change and that a new series of something old has been produced for a new audience and move on :poke:

For the record did anyone ever work out which country the Hood originated from - as a kid I always thought he was from some random place in the Middle East . Maybe he was an early incarnation of Bin Laden

The Hood's precise origins are unknown. While it is known that he is the half-brother of Kyrano, the precise details of their relationship – such as which parent they share or which of them is the elder – remain a mystery, as does the origin of his mysterious hypnotic powers. Even his real name remains a mystery; throughout the TV series, he is only ever referred to as "Agent Seven-Nine", and this codename is used on one occasion only (when he is working for "General X", a military officer from an unspecified eastern European country). The name "The Hood" is never used in the TV episodes; instead, it was revealed in spin-off media and tie-in promotional materials.
He regularly spends his time in an Aztec-themed temple in the heart of a Malaysian jungle, which features a statue of Kyrano that he regularly stands in front of when communicating with his brother, as well as other high-tech equipment that he uses to monitor his enemies and prepare his plans.

Some of you guys have probably hit the nail on then head. The new series is for today's generation not for old T's like me.
Hope it does well and inspires kids today like it did me back in the day.

Oliver and Rory love it. They already have a Tracy island and all the thunderbirds and that's at 4 and almost 3 (in two weeks time). Oliver wouldn't move from his seat whilst it was on and Rory was so engrossed in it, he kept dropping his cupcake off his plate as it slid down the plate towards him.

Just like me :D
Loved this as a kid, the 54321 bit used to make the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end (still does now)
regards

Did you notice that in the initial sequence, when John said he 'almost missed his favourite show' - the clip was a bit of Stingray another Anderson production and one of my faves as a kid...

Anything can happen in the next half-hour

And I still prefer the 'proper' Thunderbirds... It's not the same without the strings
