Had a meeting in Great Russell St today, and loathe public transport so took the Z4 as the weather was mild.
Traffic was crap, but there were a couple of gaps when I could have a little zoom, roof down, Beastie Boys The Mix-Up on the stereo.
Just after Brixton High Road, sirens behind me, blue lights in the grill of a knackered black Mondeo - pull in to let it past, but oh no, it's me they want
Pull over and two large plain clothes rozzers get out the car, and ask me to do the same. Bum.
Do you know what speed you were doing away from the lights sir? Um, no - sorry - saw a gap and maybe went a little quickly? 48 miles per hour sir. Oh crap. They inspect the car, all is well, check my driving licence, ask if I've been arrested in the last 6 months (not since I was 18 actually), run a name and plate check, but all is fine. They ask where I'm going, and tell them I'm off to a meeting at YMCA Central - and the main rozzer says, fair enough - just take it easy and leave higher speeds to the open road. And that's it! No caution, no ticket and no points :? :? :?
That's twice in three years I've been stopped for going a little quickly and have been let off - the joys of being polite, middle aged & middle class
