What an AMAZING drive that was.
This car is simply astonishing. With the Eibachs now fitted, it handles and corners in a way that defies belief. As a drivers car it is more talented and complete than anything else I have ever owned.
The brakes are so full of feel, the engine so responsive and the way the car stays so flat and composed even in tight corners is just astounding. The car gives you huge confience and you soon find a rythm of smooth inputs, using more momentum driving and less braking, entering corners fast and getting on the power early on the way out. The way you can get the car flowing through the twisties is just sublime and the thing is so quick you soon learn to regulate your corner entry and exit speeds on instinct rather than wasting time looking at the speedo. Only a few times did the traction control have to get involved, so clearly I am barely scratching the surface of the cars ability yet.
I am absolutely floored by how good this car is. Most times when you change your car improvements are itterative, but this is a whole different league to anything else I have owned. I had actually started to become a bit jaded and was losing my passion for cars, but the Z4 has completely restored my zest for it all again. I cannot believe how much car it is for so little money.
I took some pics on my way round - Woodhead Pass, Holmfirth, cross country to Snake Pass (which I went up and down a few times) then back to Hyde. I only stopped as I had run out of fuel!
Amazing views, amazing roads, amazing car. What a way to start the weekend! Hope you enjoy the pics.
Threw open the curtains at 5:30am this morning and conditions couldn't have been better!

The rolling dales near Derwent Valley, sun glinting off metal.
And some more without the Zed in the way.
As I reached Snake Pass the roads were still mostly clear.
Nearly slipped on my ass getting back down that slope!
Who put that bin there - grrrrrrr.
Got stuck behind some slow moving traffic (by which I mean cars doing 50mph - makes you realise how quick you've been going!) so pulled in to let the road clear and found this lovely spot.
Look at that long, phallic bonnet - must be compensating for something...
Nice spot.
Snake Pass - got to be one of the country's greatest roads for enthusiastic drivers.
Bananas: not suited to hard driving. Not only did his stalk snap, he went brown during the course of the trip. Must have been my driving! :?

Nice shot Moz. My Zed replaces an Alfa Spider so do miss top down action a bit at this time of year.
Right, still got the driving bug so going to head out for a spin in my Alfa 156 now to stop her getting too jealous of the new arrival.

James Junior, great pics, an early hoon on a sunny morning is always rewarding - it's excellent you're so pleased, shame you couldn't put the roof down 
I settled for polishing and waxing mine from 8am... Until about half an hour ago 
Got an early hoon myself tomorrow, looking forward to it 8)

Unfortunately, I can't afford the fuel or time right now, and I have a date with srhutch first thing in the morning...
