It was nice and shiny when I bought it...

Hi all

Cool forum. I tend to read up on my major purchases before I buy so this site was great.

Here are a couple of pics of my new motor...just before I drove it away from the dealer with a big smile on my face (and the hard top fitted unfortunately!)

It's (I mean 'she is') a 3.0i SE manual and seems to have all the options on it... heated M-sports, Nav, TV, Xenons, Carver, white light pack etc which is great. Unfortunately the first owner also ticked the box marked "luggage rack"... that will be removed soon!

A few jobs to get done now - namely, Ipod kit (dice or dension - still trying to figure it out), removal of those luggage bars (!) and maybe the CDV modification. Then I'll just be trying to burn out the run flat tyres as quickly as possible so I can fit something that will help smooth out the ride a bit!

beautiful!! The clear lights make a lot of difference and really cleans up the car.
I am on the look out for a z4 3.0 and that car you just bought has the perfect specs! May I ask how much you got it for?

Yes I have to say I feel very lucky to have found this one - I was being really picky when I was looking (for about 4 months!) and thought I would never get one! The funny thing is I was really searching for a sterling grey / black leather combo and missed out on one like that a couple of weeks before finding this one.... now I am really pleased to have got this instead!

It was at a BMW dealer for £17995. I thought that was reasonable given the spec and it has only done 7k miles with one owner!! Then I found out it also had a hard top and a tracker fitted! I still managed to talk them down to 17200 on the basis that I didn't like the luggage bars and would be getting a new boot fitted. Personally I think it's a steal at that price. It also has the TV, heated seats, folding mirrors and cruise. Definitely recommend getting one :D Good luck!

Oh, one tip that might help if you are looking at BMW dealers - if you use their UK website to run searches then make sure you look at the "coming soon" tab when your search results come up. I found mine that way (and the nice grey one I missed out on). The dealer said the best specced out cars basically fly off the net before they have even loaded up the pictures. That seemed to be the case when I was looking - the grey one went within 24 hrs of landing on the site and I took mine the same day it hit the coming soon page.

Great looking Z. I am sure you will love it. Why do people put things like that luggage rack on a vehicle like that??? Unbelievable. :driving:

Yep that's a good tip, I got mine the same, first day on "Coming soon" :D

Very nice car BTW

Wow 7k mileage and a hardtop too! Glad you have found such a good example and £17k is not a bad price for it at all, especially because it comes from a dealer. Do you get any warranty with it?
Thanks for the searching tips, will keep an eye out. Have you had time to take it for a drive yet? How do you find it?

The BMW dealer (Colne, nr Burnley) gave me 12 months warranty - parts and labour - and 12 months roadside cover. I think all the franchise dealers are the same scheme but best to check of course!

It is driving very nicely thanks... it's a very different car to my last one (audi a3 turbo) but it is easy to drive and I got used to it very quickly! It is certainly quick enough for my tastes and when you put your foot down it sounds brilliant - one of the reasons I went for the 3.0. On the motorway it's very comfortable... does about 3900-4000 rpm in 6th gear at 90mph (allegedly) and you pretty much forget it has a soft top... especially if the stereo is on  And it has averaged 30mpg on each of its first three tanks of petrol, not bad considering I live in London traffic jams. The ride is definitely firm and a touch crashy over potholes but its no big deal and I find it barely any different to my A3 turbo (also had sports suspension). So... get one! And if you can't get every piece of kit, do try and get heated M-sport seats - they'd be top of my options list. Happy hunting

Thanks to everyone else for the welcome messages :)

That is very good to hear, I also live in London, and one of the reasons for me choosing a z4 3.0 was the performance to fuel consumption ratio. It's pretty powerful but can still give good mpg, since I'll be using it everyday it will be a lot cheaper to run than say a M3.

Good to hear your enjoying it :p
