Some of you remember me talking about my 22year old daughter's DUI pullover. 1st offense.
Today was the day....
Because her BAC was twice the legal limit, this is what she was looking forward to if the Judge was in a bad mood...
1. Five days in jail.
2. Loss of driving license for one year.
3. Mandatory ASAP program.
4. Mandatory Breath-a-lizer ignition interlock.
5. Court costs.
6. Community Service.
7. And the best for last, but ONLY for Virginia RESIDENTS:
$2500.00 Civil Fine...
Those above are just because there was no accident or injury involved...... then things get really ugly....
Well, she plead Guilty.....
No Jail
Loss of License for a year. Now has a restricted license.. (Work, School, Doctors ONLY )
Mandatory ASAP program. ($350)
Court Costs ($200)
Civil Fine ($2500) $750 now, $750 each year for two more years....
Ok, Today it cost me: $1300, not to mention the $125 it cost me to get her car out of impoundment and $1500 for the lawyer.
She gets to pay the rest of the Civil Fine... and the increased insurance rates for the next seven years.....
She got off lucky. There were two others in front of us, for DUI, 1st offense and they got 10 days jail and everything I stated above.
For the most part, this has been a shock to her world and has brought her back to reality....
She now has a job. Thats a big step......
Though if she still wants to live under my house, MY rules are non-negotiable. And my rules SUCK.... Not for me, but for her....
She also now knows that most kids usually get one 'Silver Bullet" from their parents to use in their life.. Some never use it, some try to get more than one. This was her's, and I am not reloading the gun...
If you know anyone who is traveling down the wrong path, let them read this post and ask themselves if it is really worth it............
