Ever since I picked the car up 6 years ago I noticed the handbrake in my 3.0i 2003 manual z4 will randomly pop all the way up and lose all tension with the handbrake cables. I’m able to push the handbrake handle back all the way down and the handle seems to start catching again and it works. Any idea what this issue could be? It always seems to happen if I pull on the handbrake rake very hard or put some lateral movement on the handle. I’ve also had issues where sometimes I can feel less tension on the handle.
