Silver grey wasn't discontinued, Mr W and I drive that colour... Sterling grey was discontinued, but there are no M's in status grey. The single space grey roadie is lovely, and was for sale a couple of years ago on 16.5k miles for £16.5k. Seems like a bargain now given some of the recent asking prices for higher mileage cars.

The seats are pretty convincing - almost the fingerprint of the cow! The callipers look orange on my phone too.....although less so than the air filter.
The best test would be for Tom to enter the number plate worn by his car when he sold it into a insurance database. That is if the dealer won't give him the VIN of the wrecked car.

Have to agree, that leather looks identical. Calipers are easily painted also. Vin number would be confirmation though.

Strange that the Seat Detective has only just joined the forum and it was his first and only post. :scratchhead:

Ye my callipers were so orange, can spot them a mile away. They are definitely red in the picture above and I don't think its a white balance thing, the grey colour is correct in the pic so the orange would appear orange not red and these are my for sale pics where the white balance is set to mid grey so the car looks exactly the colour it should. It would have been a hell of a job repainting them, I repainted them a second time and the paint wouldn't adhere because its repellent of everything even after making a key with sandpaper, it just wouldn't adhere when it dried it would move and peel off. Had to strip it back with a Dremel to the metal for it to work took me about 2 hours per caliper, then painting them again. The wheels are a different colour too they look like shadow chrome and mine were gunmetal, they didn't have that shine to them.

But if it is.. it is. Shame but I had my fun with it, just a shame it didn't last long with the next owner.

Ye on all my devices they are red

Looks red on my MBA, iPad etc. I've also checked with a colour picker tool, and its showing as [NSColor colorWithCalibratedRed:0.575f green:0.085f blue:0.144f alpha:1.00f] - so, IMO, its a red.

Having said that, the leather creasing, the boot spoiler etc. all seem to indicate that this is Tom's old coupe. Such a shame if it is; irrespective, I hope whoever was in there got out OK.

Really really sad sight to see, poor car. I hope it isn't your old car Tom, but then it does look like one too many a coincidence for it not to be. The car looks like it has held up pretty well, some impact if it has pushed the struts inwards! The boot looks so odd the way it creased.

Il call them and get the vin.
I've already tried this morning, they said they're not allowed to give it out

Although, if you know your old one they may be willing to confirm the last couple of digits

Ye they just gave me the same answer.

Never mind if it is it is. These things happen, obviously did its job in the accident which is all that matters!

Verrrry sad if it is - makes me want to go home and re-assure mine i wont sell it :( Maybe buy it some new shoes to say sorry.

As Tom says these things happen, hopefully no one got hurt.

Almost 35 years ago now as a recently married couple we sold my wife's Mint Mini to her brother (who systematically wrecked it) and my Mint Primrose Yellow MG Midget (my P&J ) PRR 33R
so we could buy an estate car and buy a dog.

The guy who bought my MG drove home uninsured rolled the car and wrote it off. :headbang:

I wasn't happy at the time but pleased he was unhurt and life goes on.

If I could have afforded it at the time I would have bought it off the scrapper though :x

Nightmare. Not been on here a while. Looks nasty. Definitely looks like Toms old motor. The brake dust on the calipers could easily dampen the orange down to a duller (reddish) colour.

What a waste...
