Is there a way to find the name of a song

if I only have lyrics? I have a track that was posted 10 years ago on cassette. The friend who made the tape is long gone and there is no way to find out the artist/track name etc. Anyone have any ideas on how to identify the artist?

Cheers,
Greg

If you have the exact words from a part of the lyrics, google them inbetween two " characters for easier match:

"Fly me to the moon"

Try these three web sites I have had some luck in the past.

I have an idea, but it's a long shot...

there's a service in the UK where you dial a number on your mobile phone and place it next to a speaker playing a song you what info on. If the "thingy" at the other end of the phone recognises the music you get the information texted to you.

So if you can get the song off the cassette and onto an mp3 I don't mind downloading and playing it to see what happens. You only get charged if the service recognies the music and even then it's only 50p so it's hardly gonna break the bank.

I like the idea of posting the lyrics on here. Let's see who can guess it!
What genre of music is it?

This is a dark track...kinda weird early white boi hiphop wit. Huh?
Dude is telling a story, slow..this track may be older than I think...

lyrics:

Stealin' down an alley on a cold dark night
I see a halo in the rain 'round a streetlight
I stop and look and listen to the sound
as the raindrops penetrate the silence all around
Alone I gaze into the glistening street
a ____ of thunder echoing my heartbeat
urging me on to a secret goal
away from the light from this lamp on a pole
So I turn slip away into the rain...

What do ya think? Any idea?
