Is the oil level sensor affected by an incline?

I was parked on a steep slope for 10 mins with engine running
Then i get the oil level low warning
No other symptoms or signs of an oil leak

Could the slope have fooled the sensor?

Not Z4 related but my peugeot expert vans oil light comes on every time I park on an incline. It won’t go off until I drive it then turn it on and back off again. I always check the oil when the van is on a level surface when it comes on too and it’s always on full so never even topped it up.

Yes! I get the same message sometimes under those conditions, then after a while it all goes back to normal.

Funny you should mention it. My 2011 Z4 oil light cane on last week when parking on a decline. Previously oil level was at midway between min and max.
