Is Nav a worthwhile option?

Just wondering if the BMW nav is any good.

I used to have a 2001 e39 M5 and i thought the navigation was ok once I got TMC enabled.

These days though there are very good sat nav apps, so maybe getting a Z4 without nav is not such a big deal?

What value would having built in navigation add the resale value of a Z4 Coupe?
 
It depends if you want all singing and dancing. I updated the Zeds sat nav with a 2015 disc (cost around £70 from BMW) and I use it daily. It gets me to where I need to be within 100 yards easily, no debacle. I do not have the clutter of wires and suction mounts in my cabin so the drive still feels original. It is not the fanciest cutting edge gadget but it works well especially with both perspective view and arrow guide in tandem (split screen).
 
Of course in terms of pure navigation any mobile phone exceeds it on mapping features if your happy to have a phone clamped to the dash or hand held, but it's a fully integrated system. Maps are good and reliable. It integrates in phone, radio computer, etc and a much better display than horrible red led display.

IMHO def worth having.
 
Adds little in value but desirable to the majority so would always make the car more appealing when time to sell
The simple answer to your question in monetary terms is put 2 bogus inputs to WBAC one with & one without :wink:
Not done it as I cba but a couple of hundred would be my guess ?
 
Sounds like the same nav as my M5 had... best part was being properly built in and you had the novelty of TV and teletext...

Asked dealer this few years ago, Z4 they weren't fussed, X5 was a must though.
 
If you get a car with the screen an add intravee you get a good iPhone interface plus other coding options , I believe it gives you a graphic for the reversing sensors, you can programme the 3 flash on the indicators
 
I've had my Coupe for just over 13 months and it is used as my daily driver. I use the satnav a couple of times a week and it does the job.

OK, so it looks a little dated but it works. Rarely have I had to use my phone for navigation.

When it comes to sell, I think most buyers will try to find a car with as many options fitted as possible. I'm not saying that no satnav would necessarily be a deal breaker but it is another point in favour of buying your car over someone else's.
 
Personally i like the nav more as a way to get an idea of the road ahead and the severity of bends. Its also nice being able to see where side-streets go to be able to nip through traffic!

I wouldn't ever spend over 1k on a new car specifying it, but would definitely want to get a used car with it.
