Yesterday I picked up a 2004 3.0 Z4 in Germany and had to drive 1100 km back to Denmark where I live. The car had been sitting all winter in a garage with no power on the battery. Owner jump started it and everything worked just fine when it came alive. I test drove the car, went through everything and went inside afterwards to do the paper work. 30 min. later I started the car and everything was still ok. Then I drove for like 5 hours on the autobahn and stopped to get a couple hours sleep. When I tried to start the car again it was completely dead. I jump started it again from another car and the engine fired up straight away - but now the satnav and all the gauges where out - lights, AC, cruise control, radio and so on worked just fine but it was really frustrating to drive in the night without any fuel gauge, speedo and so on. Good thing there are no speed limits in Germany
Anyways - the battery is obviously dead and needs replacement but do I need to worry about the electical problems I had? I've read about transport mode but not resulting in the same electrical problems I have.
