After having the Z4 for a few years now the novelty has worn off but still enjoy the car.
Last week drove the other car tuesday -friday. So i get up early Saturday morning (6:30 am) and decide to drive the Z4 to the store. Open the garage door, windows are down and i start the Z4, it fires right up and the exhaust sounds a little deeper then normal, and the idle has just a tad bit of lumpyness to it
, so out i creep out the development in 1st letting the engine warm up, no traffic out so i make it to the second light, and the temp gauge is now halfway and the exit to interstate 95 (which is almost a complete circle) is a quarter mile away. Recommended speed for the ramp is 35mph, so 65 makes it fun and entertaining. There is about an 1/8 of a mile merge lane on to 95 North, so i decided to wind-out 2nd and in to 3rd gear and a quick peak indicates over 100mph and the sound generator is growling in a deep deep bass note, hit rev limiter in 3rd (i know, i know) and now 4th gear with accelarator pinned to the floor. She is starting to pick up some serious speed now so i move to the middle lane just in case (as if i could actually react or manuver to avoid anything at this speed, more like stomp the brakes and close your eyes
). After after a few more seconds (sanity kicks in
) i take my foot of the throttle and let the tranny slow the car down as the exhaust gurgles and gurgles, i take the next exit and return to home.
The Z4 felt just perfect, the steering was right, the acceleration was right, the suspension was right, and reminded me of why i bought it in the first and what driving a sports car is all about
. Oh, by the way, the store was before the 2nd stop light and I forgot to stop there on the way home too
. There is always next Saturday morning
