Is it just me?

After having the Z4 for a few years now the novelty has worn off but still enjoy the car.

Last week drove the other car tuesday -friday. So i get up early Saturday morning (6:30 am) and decide to drive the Z4 to the store. Open the garage door, windows are down and i start the Z4, it fires right up and the exhaust sounds a little deeper then normal, and the idle has just a tad bit of lumpyness to it :D , so out i creep out the development in 1st letting the engine warm up, no traffic out so i make it to the second light, and the temp gauge is now halfway and the exit to interstate 95 (which is almost a complete circle) is a quarter mile away. Recommended speed for the ramp is 35mph, so 65 makes it fun and entertaining. There is about an 1/8 of a mile merge lane on to 95 North, so i decided to wind-out 2nd and in to 3rd gear and a quick peak indicates over 100mph and the sound generator is growling in a deep deep bass note, hit rev limiter in 3rd (i know, i know) and now 4th gear with accelarator pinned to the floor. She is starting to pick up some serious speed now so i move to the middle lane just in case (as if i could actually react or manuver to avoid anything at this speed, more like stomp the brakes and close your eyes :o ). After after a few more seconds (sanity kicks in  ) i take my foot of the throttle and let the tranny slow the car down as the exhaust gurgles and gurgles, i take the next exit and return to home.

The Z4 felt just perfect, the steering was right, the acceleration was right, the suspension was right, and reminded me of why i bought it in the first and what driving a sports car is all about  . Oh, by the way, the store was before the 2nd stop light and I forgot to stop there on the way home too  . There is always next Saturday morning

I've had the car a few months now and I still walk out to it with a smile. Then i'll normally drive it much the same as you!

Any time I have to go to the garage to get something (a screwdriver, a wrench, etc.) for some reason I can't get back into the house for at least 15 minutes. I just stare at the car and can't pry myself back into the house. :)

I'm addicted to my Zed.

Spent 17 hours straight in my Z one and a half weeks ago, and I didn't want to get out when I got home! 'Nuf said 8)

Well, I had several coffee/stretch/bathroom/gas-up breaks/ovrkll check-up calls (thank you very much :D ) throughout obviously but that's it. No napping and no hotel rooms..just driving the hell out of it

Zeefour, your epic reads like a great smut novel, only behind the wheel, leaves you breathless, heart pounding, and wanting to participate, wonderful!

It hurts so good! Every once in a while you hit that perfect driving zone where everything just feels right, that was one of those occassions! :driving:

well, I guess I am the only one that thinks long distance freeway driving with the top down is brutal.

I'm proud of ya for that f-n-i.

Gee thanks Rosie! :friends: Would be great to hear others' long distance top-down stories..I know I'm not the only one here who has done them. I think I'm going to plan a long distance Spring Run if I can swing both that and HC.

Toronto to Gaspe last summer 3000 km (1865 miles)..... (did I post this on the old forum????)
top down 99.9% of the time & lovin every minute of it. :D

Beautiful!! Did you have any complaints about doing it in the Z? Some have mentioned their backs hurt after a few hours from lack of support, but mine never did.

Been driving a Z4 since May of 2003 and I'm still excited about the car now as when I first got one... :driving:

Remember, FNI that I took mine from NJ to MI and back to NJ this past summer (723 miles each way - what's that 1446 round trip?, Plus the 15 miles to the dealer after sliding off into the ditch). Top down both ways... a a a a a lmost all the way. Traffic in Philly came to a stand still on the way back and I got too hot so put it up to enjoy some A/C till it started moving at a decent pace again.

Loved every minute of it. Stopped only twice for gas each way, carried a large gatorade bottle with opening big enough to fit in  as bed-pan. No back problems. I remember the sun shining the whole way out to MI, I don't remember the WX going back to NJ. I think it was mostly sunny with some cloud cover in some parts.

insTag8er - I remember seeing that map before - and I remember some INCREDIBLE pics that accompanied it too!!!! :D
