iPod link effects other functions

Afternoon. Advice required please chaps. my car has an iPod (old style) connector which is a wire coming straight from behind the dash near the roof/heated seat controls. This was fitted when I bought the car so I don't know what make it is. When I plug in my phone/pod It shows track 99 and plays fine, I can flick briefly onto other functions eg sat nav but then it automatically flicks back after a couple of seconds. Also when I close the screen it pops back up again each time within seconds. Everything works correctly when nothing is connected. Anyone had similar issue or know how to stop this?

On another note a lorry drivers foot slipped off the clutch in traffic yesterday and went into the back of me causing damage to bumper and boot lid etc. The only positive being that the insurers are sorting me out with an m5 hire car which could be fun

If it is the genuine BMW version it operates by replicating the multi changer
You have to create up to 5 playlists each with a presubscribed name on the iOS device ,is this new to you ,if so I can look out the instructions and cobble a pdf together
