iPod connection in 56 plate 3.0si

Hi all,

Looking for some help..... I want to be able to connect my iPod to the Business stereo, no Sat Nav, I have in my 3.0si. As far as I can tell it doesn't have DSP (no jazz etc options) but there are 10 speakers in the cab, don't know if that makes a difference?!? I would like to use the steering wheel controls to skip track etc. I am happy with the idea that I can't easily search through songs and artists with the limited display available - so long as there is an override to use the iPod controls as well as the usual random and playlist options. I have a 5th Gen iPod video but want the compatibility with the touch and iPhone as I'm looking to change my mobile....

This is what I’ve tried. A unit was provided and fitted by a local specialist (Moons Radio in Gloucester) called LCD - this didn't work. Just wouldn't play. No error messages, just would play the iPod. A second unit was sent and that didn't work either. They then got in the DICE SILVERLINE unit. This also didn't work properly eventually coming back to the same error message 'CORE NOT DET'.
We've tried all the reset options I could find for the DICE unit but it still wouldn't play ball. The guys at Moons are stumped as am I. :headbang:

Is this an issue with my stereo specifically or have I been unlucky with the 3 units tried? HELP!
Thanks

Chris

Hi & Welcome Chris.

There's a lot about this on here, the general consensus here is that the DICE / BMW kits are rubbish.

Do a quick search for Intravee and you'll find something a lot nicer.

You could of course just use the Aux-In.. obviously no steering wheel controls but it will *just work*

I've currently got the intravee in mine, unless you have the nav save your money, I got it for my pervious car which had nav/tv and it was great so i removed it so that i could put it in my Z.

You have to change the user interface fom U6 to U2, Still works but it keeps frezing and saying CD Check, to free it you have to cycle through the mode button to get it to work again. Not the end of the world but it gets annoying so I don't use it as much now. I'm not saying you will have the same problem as me it you were to get it. I think because i got the Bluetooth telephone in mine it some how interferes with it because it using it do display the track names

Thanks guys.

Intravee looks a very slick option with the screen but as I don't have that seems expensive.

Is this that the functionality is poor or the interface is difficult or that they just don't work? The advice I have been given from the guy at incaripod.com is that if the ICD (said LCD in previous post - my mistake!) and the DICE units won't work properly then things like the DENSION or any other 'clone the signal' style device won't work either.
Has anyone else had problem with one and success with another?

Thanks

Without Nav, Intravee is expensive. It does work, but you need the lates firmware which you should load jan_tekin.

Before I had satnav in the previous Z, I used the Dension Icelink Plus without problems - but that is now obsolete I think.

I would just use the aux in as the cheapest option if I did not have satnav.

I thought the latest firmware only benefited U6, must try and up date it then, its a little difficult now because i am using a Mac now since my laptop broke. I was asked to give a read out of my cars data using navcoder and become some sort of tester but the fact I got a mac and the dame ibus connection is not the easiest to get to I haven't done it yet.

Lads,
I have a 06 Z4 Coupe (UK Sport spec). I have the standard Business Stereo (no Sat Nav, no CD changer in boot).
If I just want the simple Aux-in connection (**one that will simply 'work as mentioned above'**), what is the Part # I should be looking for? I have already read the topic on this in the DIY section but there about 4~5 different part numbers mentioned and its difficult to know which one to order. :headbang:

As long as I can control it from the ipod, thats all I want.

Can anyone advise me? :) Thanks in advance! (Matt)
