iPod classic connection

Sorry if this has been covered before, but I was wondering if there was a way to connect my iPod classic that would allow use of the steering wheel controls and also charge it at the same time. My car is 2010 E89 3.0i sdrive. It has the professional stereo, no bluetooth and only an aux in connection in the centre console. Bluetooth would be good to connect my phone but I’m not too bothered about it. Thanks for any suggestions 👍👍👍

If you have the CD multi changer, you have the option of fitting a Dension - https://www.dension.com/automotive

Yes (I have mine connected) you need a Y cable
USB and 3.5mm jack that should connect into the sockets under the arm rest and obviously the other end to your Ipod
This allows full control from the radio or steering wheel as well as charging the Ipod
I have a spare one (not sure if BMW OEM, but it works)
If you PM me with your details you can have it for the cost of postage

Sorry just re-read your post, no USB socket??

Thanks for the reply, and for the offer of the y cable, unfortunately I don't have the USB input in the centre arm rest. I'll have a look at the Dension options.😁😁😁

Hi Obewan, I have both USB and aux so would be interested in it if you are still willing to sell it.

PM me the details and cost

Cheers

 Thanks, you’re a gent PM sent with my details.

Weird - got your details on an e-mail but nothing in PM's (box is virtually empty as well)
I'll post in the morning
Just to confirm this has the old style Ipod connector, not the new lightening one

I believe when you reply to a member, you have two options of contacting them, either a message or email

Pretty sure I did it with a message on PM
Test conversations with Marlon last night seemed to work OK with exception that the PM notification flag on the forum page didn't work

Additional info...
If you read Dension's own web page compatibility manual it'll tell you that it is not compatible with the e89 Professional radio (well actually it doesn't state that it is compatible!!), in fact it doesn't mention much on the Amazon page I've linked above. But looking at this eBay add...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380770374138

That is listed for the e90/91/92/93 Professional head unit, which is identical to the e89 version (non-iDrive) up to end of production.

Now the Grom states that it is compatible with the e89 2009 - 2010, but it is the same system up to end of production.

Two things that you will need, the MOST optical system and the head unit must be CD changer compatible (this can be coded)
