After a couple of weeks with my new setup. I think I want to change it yet again for a easier approch.
After my first attempt, It was functional.
Relocating the Ipod holder to here made it easier to change tunes while driving. Routed the cable through the dash so it is hidden. A SMALL piece of Velcro placed under the mounting bracket keep the cable from dangling.
But it is a pain to plug in and unplug the Ipod every time I want to get out of the car and always having to charge it (the Ipod) at night.... So I found these....
A new cable that has everything. Bottom connector, 3.5mm output and charger. I really don't need the video portion so that will get coiled up and hidden.
I still want it easier to setup and remove. My GPS mount is from ProClip so I went back to them and I found this. You plug your cable into the bottom and leave it. You just set the Ipod into the holder. Just like a cradle.
I just ordered the cable from Ebay for $19.00 w/shipping. The ProClip mount is a little pricy @ $49.00 but it will look good and be a lot easier. They have different mount for different types of cables on the market.
My overall plan will be to modify the AUX input cable so it can accept two inputs. One from the Ipod and one from the original under dash connection for a second device. Just have to make sure the impedance is correct.
Will post pics when I have all the parts and its installed...
