iPod adapter - no sound

I just got the car about 6 weeks ago and it came with an iPod adapter, when I plug an iPod to it, I can see the name of the band and song on the radio, but I get absolutely no sound no matter what I try...

I have no idea of the brand of the adapter until I take all parts out to figure it out, but though that maybe I am just not doing it right...

Thanks in advance!

Check connections. Could be a faulty pin/s on the connector.

Failing that pop a bt adapter on it to use with any phone and a bt connection. Works a treat.

How will a BT adapter work if no sound is coming through :?

If the line-level audio pins on the op's dock connector have failed a bt adapter will utilise the usb pin to enable usb signal path between the bt adapter and dock connecter, thus enabling bt connection to any device and not just sh!tty apple products. The usb pin is obviously stil functional as thats used to display the trackname on the head unit.

Edit: the audio signal path from device to amplification will be much cleaner via bt. A residual benefit perhaps?
