iPhone Speed Dial

Hi All
Never used the R/T button on my steering wheel before, Z4M. Tried it the other night and discovered it appears to access a speed dial function. This would be very handy and allow you to dial direct from the wheel. I'm not sure though how you are able to allocate speed dials. Phone is an 3G version and as I scroll through the speed dials using steering wheel arrows there appears to be no order to them as they appear on the screen. Contacts originally come from outlook, synched across to the phone via mobileme.

should be scrolling thru ur phonebook, easy as pie, then press the "push-to-talk" button and hey presto.

just pressing the puch to talk button dials the last dialled number...

dont think it can access the speed dial functions of your phone though - would be quite hard as each phone manufacturer does it differently...

Have you got SatNav otherwise it just scrolls through A-Z or Z-A, which is crap. It works much better with SatNav

Not speed-dials, aren't they just the last ten numbers you called, hence the lack of order?

No, the Sat Nav screen actually labels the numbers as speed dial. I think the system is somehow allocating each of my contacts with a speed dial number which is not alphabetical nor recently dialled.

For instance speed dial 1 - 10 I haven't dialled in more than a year. Both my home and local chinese (frequently dialled) are well down the speed dial list.

Was just interested in whether I could manipulate this speed dial number so I could allocate it to my preferred contacts. The top 8 numbers on the phone menu tend to disappear when you reboot the iphone so you have to scroll through the entire phone book to rediall.

my iPhone 3G comes up as an alphabetical list letting you scroll backwards/forwards through it via the arrow keys.
