iPhone mount options?

Hi,

Now the Zed has arrived I'm looking at ways of mounting an iPhone so it can be used as a media player and a SatNav (using CoPilot). A decent quality clip on the right-hand centre vent would probably work ok, but I thought that a Pro-clip style mount that clips in the joint between the trim and the dash just above the vent might be better.

Alternatively, I have a velcro-based DIY mount for a TomTom in the dash storage binnacle on my 1 series (see below) - can you get a similar binnacle for the zed, or has anyone tried fitting the 1 series one, as that could be a good option?

What are other people doing?

That idea for the top looks good! I think you should do it, then i will if all goes ok Does look good, and i struggle finding somewhere for my iphone.

This may sound stupid, but how does the dash slant compare on the 1 series to the Z? I might get one of these as to see if it possible to do. Now i have a cup holder i want some front storage, as its a bit annoying trying to reach behind all the time!

Visually they look pretty similar, and both models could be specified with the flip-up nav unit, so I think it should be possible.

Will have a proper look at some point, but I suspect that the only real way of finding out will be to try it, which is slightly scary as if it doesn't work then you've got a hole in your dash

Yeah i will only do it if i know it will work, or try on yours first

There is one on ebay for £25, but may get one from the dealers as not much more new. It looks like it secures by two screws on the front, which is accessible from the air vents. But could be modified to secure from the top, or stick doen with black sikaflex or something similar.

Can ypu take a top pic, and a pic of the inside, so i can see what i can fit in there

It's not huge - I've just got my TomTom OneXL and the car charger for it in mine, but the opening is just nicely sized to fit the TomTom and I suspect that an iPhone would also fit nicely.

Yeah looks the same as the retro for the satnav. Plus i have a Bosch GOP which should do the job easily
