IPhone/aux interference

Hi guys,

Recently got a White M sport 2.0l coral red interior and loving it! :D However when I plug in my iPhone into the aux in connection for music playback, I notice that the sound has quite a bit of noticeable 'noise' or interference. Is this normal? I've tried adjusting the EQ but no joy. I wondered if anyone else noticed this?

Thanks, Mike

It's like the white noise/static you get on TVs. The sound distorts too but I found turning down the fader so the music came from the rear speakers more helped.

Are the contacts clean? What cable are you using? Try normal headphones in the iPhone to see if it is the phone causing it (i.e. rule each thing out). If the aux end isn't connecting/seating right I guess that could be an issue.

I usually download my ipod playlists to USB stick and then play through that but tried connecting the iphone to test the aux input today and found the same problem.I can only assume it's due to lead quality but will go out tomorrow and buy a stupidly expensive one tomorrow to see if that helps.

Well I ended up buying a Y cable instead of the Aux cable I was using... And the problem has disappeared! I can only assume the quality of the cable did the trick. Also the Aux cable I was using was pretty long too which may have not helped either in picking up interference

I tried my iphone cable but said i needed upgrade lead, then i just used the aux with a cable, works perfect but still hassle to change songs, so i just wacked my music on a 32gb usb so i can control with mfsw

works a treat!

If you buy the proper BMW iPod lead, you get the music library level of functionality (except voice control search), which is what I have. Control iPod via iDrive.

On a previous 1'er I had that - no sat nav, but the usb interface. Used the bmw y cable, and could control the ipod via the pro stereo.

If you don't have iDrive like me then you still see track listings from your iPhone on the stereo. You can also select songs from the stereo too - you can search by artist, album, genre and select

Much easier with idrive tho.. Not just iPod but the built in storage. Especially when you can call it up by voice command.. 'music search', 'artist', 'keane', 'start playback' all without lifting a finger...
