iPhone 4S connection

Hello,

I've just bought a e89 with the business stereo (no I drive) and would like to connect it with my iPhone (4s) to play music from my library or spotify. There is only an aux input so I guess it's stereo only and I'd have to control the music via the phone. Has anyone used the snap in adaptor without the I drive or is the headphone jack to aux the more common solution?

Cheers

You can use the iPhone/iPod USB and 3.5mm jack to play the music through your stereo and control this via the stereo or the buttons on the multifunctional steering wheel. I still do this in my 35is and I have the iDrive and the music enabled snap in connection but they don't have a cradle for my phone.

I assume that you have bluetooth and a snap in cradle in the armrest? You will need to check that the car has been spec'd with the music function, if not then you won't be able to use the snap in adaptor to stream music, however your local dealer will confirm if this is possible before you splash out the extra for the music enabled snap in adaptor.

Alternatively, you can put all your music onto a usb flash drive and use this via the USB port in the car and this will also play via the stereo.

As i read it, the OP doesn't have the USB port.

If that's the case then you'll just have to connect it with the headphone socket adapter which won't allow you to use the stereo/steering wheel controls to control your ipod.

Hi, thanks for the reply. it's a early e89 model so just an aux input and no USB so I guess I just have to run from the iPhone headphone jack into the aux. there is some pins under the snap in adaptor but clearly not designed for the iPhone. Also retro fitting the music adaptor would be very expensive I guess, would rather get new speakers and leave playlists run!
